Biography

'Daly' (forename unknown) was a West of Scotland junior player used at centre half during United's Second Division winning season in 1928/29. While he was noted to have been involved in the squad over a few weeks, his one and only game came against Alloa Athletic at Tannadice, during which he was said to have "showed promise" alongside John Bain and Patsy Deuchar.

Timeline

  • In what proved to be their easiest game of the season to date, United continued their winning home form with a thrashing of Alloa Athletic, bouncing back from the 2-0 defeat at Coatbridge one week prior. As woeful as Alloa were, it took United until the 33rd minute to break the ice, with Duncan Hutchison missing a couple of near certainties, before Johnny Hart eventually scored to give the home side a half time lead.
