Vale of Leven
Head to Head

Based in the town of Alexandria in West Dunbartonshire, the original club were formed in 1872 and won the Scottish Cup three times before becoming one of the founding members of the Scottish Football League when it was started in 1890. After dropping out of the League for a few years, they successfully re-applied for membership in 1905, and were members of Division Two when Dundee Hibs gained admission to the League in 1910. The clubs were regular opponents until the start of the First World War when the lower division was suspended, but renewed their regular meetings when Division Two was restarted in 1921. Vale of Leven were eventually relegated to the short lived Third tier of Scottish Football, and after one more meeting between the clubs in the Scottish Cup in 1927, The Vale were discontinued in 1929. The current club were formed in 1939 and have spent the majority of their time in the Scottish Junior League.
