The Loki designed Away kit for the 1993/94 season is legendary for being loved and loathed in equal measures.

Described as both a “marble effect” and as “an explosion in a paint factory”, the shirt was mainly white, with a black and grey swirl pattern throughout. Legend has it that each shirt made had its own unique pattern - no two shirts were the same.

The polo style collar remained from the previous seasons strip, with a black & tangerine placket at the neck. The newly redesigned circular Club badge replaced the old familiar shield emblem that had been used since the 1950s.

As with the Home top, the Away shirt was missing a sponsor’s logo for the entire season. However, after the deal with Rover had been completed in May and United had won the Scottish Cup for the first time in their history, a commemorative version of the Away top with the Rover logo included was made available to buy.

The Away top made its first appearance in a 2-1 win over Partick Thistle at Firhill on 14th August 1993, but will mostly be remembered for two Scottish Cup replay victories during the teams Scottish Cup run.

It was worn in the 4th round replay against Motherwell at Fir Park where Brian Welsh scored the winner, and also in the Semi-Final replay against Aberdeen at Hampden Park, where a Jim McInally goal took United through to the Final, where they went on to win the trophy for the first time in the Club's history.
