This shirt was a one-off specially created for United legend Maurice Malpas's second testimonial match in 2000. It was essentially the home shirt for the 2000/01 season but with a different sponsor and text under the club crest. For this match only, Premier Management replaced the Telewest sponsor logo that normally adorned the front of the shirt. Also, under the badge was embroidered text which read, "MAURICE MALPAS TESTIMONIAL JULY 2000". The shirt shown was signed by all the team that day and carries the number 15 on the back.

The kit itself was based on the United top from 1969 - the Club's original tangerine shirt - with a thick round black collar, with similar cuffs at the sleeves. The polyester made material was thicker than the shirts had been for a while, but also had a mesh like effect throughout to help with air circulation.

The game this shirt was worn in featured Everton at Tannadice. Maurice Malpas, the normally restrained Fifer, made no attempt to hide the emotion as decked out in this kit, he walked through the guard of honour created by his fellow professionals and made his way to the centre circle to acknowledge the applause of both sets of fans in a crowd of over 6,000. It was a match that was also notable for Paul Gascoigne making his Everton debut and one which United ran out 2-1 winners. Malpas was overwhelmed by the reception given him by the Tangerines fans. "The response of the supporters was simply unbelievable. I cannot thank them enough".
