For the Clubs second ever "official" third kit, Pony introduced the colour ecru into United’s palette, borrowing heavily from Liverpool’s Away kit designed by Reebok from the previous year.

The top had a slight tartan effect printed through the fabric, which was thicker material than both the Home and Away shirts. An intricate V-shaped neck line with black & tangerine trim was enhanced with a high black collar, and a thick tangerine line and a thin black line acted as trim on both the cuffs and the shoulders.

The new Telewest logo, which had changed from the previous seasons white panel, this now had the black text and green sphere now stuck directly onto the shirt.

The black shorts had an ecru and tangerine panel down the right hand side, and the ecru socks had a tangerine top with white and black trim.

The new third kit was worn at least once during the season, in a goalless draw with Dunfermline at Tannadice in December.
