Dundee Hibs were good value for their narrow win over Montrose, but if they mean to beat Brechin next Sarurday and make progress in the Qualifying Cup ties they must show improved form. There was a want of balance in the front line, and good chances of scoring were missed. The defence was generally good, although the half-back line could have done with a little stiffening up. The Hibs, however, were hardly at full strength. Gallacher was out of the team owing to illness, and, while Strachan played well at right back, he is more serviceable in the mid line, being a fine, strong, forcing player.
Brady did not have much to do in goal. He was well guarded by the backs. Hannan played a fine game, and his powerful kicking was, as usual, a feature. The halves did good work in brewing up, but their feeding of the forwards was deficient. Snee was an active worker, and so was Boland, but Ramsay was below his best. Among the forwards, Docherty showed some smart footwork, and so did Dailly, but they were inclined to be selfish at time, forgetting their partners. E. F. Gibb, the amateur outside right, made a creditable show. He has any amount of dash and speed, and can shoot well. Henry Brown was the best of the five. Burns did fairly well in the centre position.
