1 - 2
League (Division Two)
Dundee Hibs were at Port Glasgow, and brought off a fine victory. The score 2-1 in their favour was scarcely an indication of the run of play, as Port Glasgow did most of the pressing, and were very unfortunate on many occasions.
Hibs scored four minutes from the start and two minutes from the finish, while the Port Glasgow goal was a result of a penalty kick which Monteith saved, but the rebound was converted. The Hibs showed they were trained to last the two forty-fives and it was only in the last fifteen minutes that they had anything like the command of the game.
It was Waterson's shot which claimed the points, the home goalkeeper being deceived by the back playing the ball out of his reach. O'Gara's first goal was taken from the first kick he had at the ball. The honours of the game went to the Dundee Hibs defence, who came through a severe test satisfactorily. Monteith was class, Miller and Welsh dominated at the back. Forward Dwyer, O'Gara and Marshall were the best.
