Match Report
Twelve barren years at Tynecastle came to and end when Ray McKinnon crashed home an unstoppable winner eight minutes from time.
United deservedly took the lead when Kjell Oloffsson ran on to a Lars Zetferlund through ball. Hearts pulled one back out of the blue through Robertson eight minutes later and could claim to have the better of the exchanges from then on.
However, United could and should have been further ahead but for the loss of Andy McLaren through injury with less than half-an-hour on the clock upset the side's rhythm.
