We recorded our sixth successive win of the season against a Saints side which clearly would have settled for a share of the spoils. Although we didn't score until the second half, our best period of the match came in the very early stages when we moved the ball around confidently and quickly indeed only Black's intervention prevented the danger from a McKinnon cross being averted. In seventeen minutes Darren Jackson hammered in a shot which was blocked. However, Saints came back into the match and McWalter used his pace down the left and Shaw Just failed to get a touch to his fast low cross. Six minutes before half-time Shaw sped clear but Billy Thomson advanced quickly from goal to block Shaw's shot,
Nine minutes after half-time came the goal upon which the outcome of the match ultimately hinged. Billy McKinlay's long angular ball into the heart of the Saints defence fell perfectly for Darren Jackson who despatched a low shot past Money for his sixth goat of the season. Ten minutes from time we should have added to that lead when a cross from Mixu Paatelainen found its way to Paddy Connolly who got the break of the ball, but shot straight at Money. Saints only real chance of the second half came in the dying minute following a fortuitously awarded free-kick after Black's intended cross struck Paddy Connolly's arm. From the free-kick Martin got in a header but Billy Thomson made a flying leap to not only save but hold the ball and ensure that we deservedly collected the points.
