Match Report

If we could have few complaints about coming away from Pittodrie empty-handed, then we certainly had a case for deserving a point at the very least on a Love Street surface made treacherous by frost and a light covering of snow. It would be fair to say that Alan Main hardly had a save to make in the entire 90 minutes, yet we ended up pointless. Early pressure saw Fridge save well from Jim McInally. Shortly afterwards a nod down from McInally left Peter Hinds well placed in front of goal, but Fridge again made a fine reflex save, this time from almost point blank range. On the half hour mark McInally was again in the thick of the action when a neat one-two with Darren Jackson put Jim in the clear, but Fridge produced yet another fine save. In the 37 minutes with virtually their first attack Saints took the lead. lcelander Gunni Torfason rose to head in the first corner of the game despite Jim McInally hooking the ball clear, but not before it had crossed the line.

Saints came into the picture a little bit more in the second half as conditions underfoot deteriorated, though neither goalkeeper was severely tested. Towards the end we became more assertive, but our best chance to salvage something from the game came in the closing stages when a volley from Darren Jackson flashed past the upright. This defeat brought a run of four consecutive wins at Paisley to an end.
