Match report

As in the recent Skol Cup tie we made the best possible start with an early goal. If we failed to hit the same level of performance of that League Cup tie, we at least had the satisfaction of taking a point from what was not one of the derby matches that will live too long in the memory. As in the recent Skol Cup tie we made the best possible start with an early goal. If we failed to hit the same level of performance of that League Cup tie, we at least had the satisfaction of taking a point from what was not one of the derby matches that will live too long in the memory. The opener was as a result of a long clearance by Billy Thomson. George McGeachie was short with a back header, and Iain Ferguson nipped in to push the ball post the advancing Geddes after 8 minutes. Our lead lasted only 22 minutes. Lawrence played a seemingly innocuous ball into the box and Tommy Coyne cleverly flighted the ball over Billy Thomson into the net.

Both trainers were heavily involved in the first half action. Dundee had to replace both McGeachie and McKinlay, whilst Bobby Glennie had to go off for stitches for a little over ten minutes and Billy Thomson also had to receive treatment following a clash of heads with Glennie. The second period brought little or no goalmouth activity, though we looked the likelier side to grab a victory.
