Our unbeaten run extended to six matches after our third victory of the season against hapless Morton. Facing an icy wind, the first real chance fell to us. Mixu Paatelainen controlled the ball on the edge of the box before getting in a shot which Wylie pushed round the post. Tragedy struck Morton defender Roddy MacDonald in the 19th minute. He used an arm to control and awkward bouncing ball and Ian Redford did the needful from the spot kick award.
The same player was on target six minutes later. Eamonn Bannon's high through ball allowed Ian Redford to beat the visitor's offside trap and his neat lob evaded the advancing Wylie and the ball sailed on and bounced into the empty net.
Now completely in control, we created a succession of chances. Eamonn Bannon's snap shot went inches wide and shortly afterwards Eamonn's 20 yarder was well saved by Wylie. Just before half-time Morton were unlucky when a Robertson shot was cleared off the line by Jim McInally. Backed by the strong wind more goals looked certain in the second half, but Morton packed their defence and with Wylie in outstanding form, we just couldn't add to our total. Eamonn Bannon went close on a couple of occasions, but lan Redford went closest to scoring, Wylie denying him his hat-trick with a brilliant save in the last minute.
