Our unbeaten run in the New Year extended to 7 matches with this convincing win over Dunfermline. Hero of this victory was Kevin Gallacher, who bagged all three goals. Only three minutes were on the clock when Kevin struck for the first time the ball was played in to Kevin Gallacher on the edge of the box and his curling shot left McKellar in the Pars goal helpless.
Kevin Gallacher and Hamish French both had shots which weren't far off target before we scored a second in the 23rd minute. Hamish French embarked on a run before threading a pass through the Pars defence to allow Kevin Gallacher to shoot past McKellar at the near post. Eamonn Bannon hooked a volley just wide and Jim Mclnally was pulled down by Billy Kirkwood after being put in the clear. Dunfermline's only first half threat to Alan Main was a curling Beedie cross which the 'keeper punched away in fine style.
The second half was less dominated by us, but Dunfermline found it hard to make any impression on the Tannadice rearguard. With three minutes left Mixu Paatelainen chipped the ball through the middle and Kevin Gallacher ran on before coolly slotting the ball past McKellar to complete his hat-trick. In the final minute Hamish French burst clear but his delayed cut-back found no takers when a fourth goal looked inevitable.
