Both sides maintained their unbeaten runs in a match of few chances played on a hard and bumpy Easter Road pitch. If there had been a winner on points then we could have expected the verdict to be in our favour as Andy Goram made two particularly fine and crucial saves early and late in the match. The first threatening move of the game brought the first of these after three minutes. Kevin Gallacher picked up the ball on the right and cut inside to the edge of the box and sent in a curling lob which Goram got a finger tip to just divert the ball on to the bar and to safety.
Few moments of anxiety were imposed on either 'keeper until late in the introduction of Iain Ferguson. The substitute collected the ball from Eamonn Bannon and turned quickly to send in an acutely angled shot which was well saved by Goram at his near post. In view of Hibs proximity in the race for fifth spot it was important not to lose ground to the Easter Road side and this result achieve just that.
