Match Report
As at Kilbowie the previous week, we took an early lead through Ian Redford, but failed to capitalise. After only five minutes Ian latched on to a Paul Sturrock pass before carrying on to beat Money at the near post. Within a couple of minutes Brian Gallacher nodded an equaliser. The game deteriorated with both sides lacking enterprise.
Early in the second half we did get the ball in the net again but Paul Hegarty was adjudged offside when he headed in an Ian Redford knock back. With 18 minutes left a defensive slip let Brian Gallacher in to score the winner. This prompted a revival by United but it failed to prevent Saints snatching a victory less than three weeks after a 5-0 drubbing on the same ground.
