Match Report

Jim McLean's Tannadice men celebrated the first-ever home Premier League game with a sparkling start with a goal after only a couple of minutes from the penalty spot. Little Graeme Payne did the needful after John Blackley had handled an Andy Gray effort. However the opening excitement proved to be the icing on the cake as nothing that followed during the first half lived up to expectation. And the final period was no better apart from occasional individual flashes of inspiration from Payne and Sturrock. Still, it provided United withtheir
first Premier League goal and with it their first points of the new set-up.
