Fresh from their 2-0 win over Sheffield United in the Texaco Cup, we maintained our fine start to the season with a commanding performance against the Bully Wee. The start may have been shaky but control was assumed control from the moment we forged in front. That came in the 31st minute when Andy Gray controlled a Tommy Traynor cross with his right foot before taking a couple of steps before crashing in an unsaveable shot past Cairney.
Seven minutes later, it was two. Andy Rolland headed a Frank Kopel cross into the box which Pat Gardner took on his chest and wheeled to whip the ball past Cairney. Tommy Traynor supplied the ammunition for the third after 61 minutes. His inviting cross was met by Jim Henry who hit a first time shot which Cairney couldn't hold and Andy Rolland nipped in to net the rebound. With 25 minutes remaining, the scoring was completed, Pat Gardner back-heeling the ball into the path of George Fleming who curled in a fourth.
