Match Report
A troublesome trip to Turkey ended in defeat for United. Bursaspor scored after only nine minutes in this game and United never looked able to recover the situation.
The goal that won the game was a cracker. Vahit Kolukısa latched onto a punched clearance from McAlpine and struck a vicious 30 yard effort into the back of the net.
As the game began to drift away from United, Jim MCLean shoved Doug Smith up front in an attempt to grab the away goal that would take United through in the tie. However, the Bursaspor defence was well organised and never really gave United any clear opportunities.
