Match Report
A marvellous Parkhead afternoon for the Tannadice club with Andy Gray emerging as the goal hero as United upset the formbook with a memorable victory. And United's success was no fluke as was proved by the consensus of opinion that Celtic were fortunate to have got off so lightly. Only an occasional spark of individual genius from Jimmy Johnstone threatened Jim McLean's men who were almost completely dominant in ending any hopes the Parkhead side may have had of staging a late championship challenge. United's winner came in the 32nd minute when Andy Gray outjumped everyone to nod in a corner from Paul Hegarty.
