Match Report
It was third time luck for United, who having already played the Glasgow side twice in the early weeks of the season finally notched a victory over the hoops. Having lost and drawn the first two matches with Celtic, there was an air of hope rather than expectation when they visited Tannadice on this sunny afternoon.However, the Parkhead side with Dalglish leading the line were sent packing back to Glasgow with no points or goals. Over 13,000 fans turned up to witness a 1-0 win for the home side.
It was Gordon Wallace who scored the winning goal. It arrived in the 20th minute in front of the shed. United had to survive a number of scares in the remaining 70 minutes but held on for a precious win.
