Match Report

Dutch outfit Den Haag visited Tannadice in what was the final outing for the Tangerines that pre season. There was a notable inclusion within the opposition line up as their new signing ex Celtic winger Jamie Smith made a quick return to Scotland.

It turned out to be a lively 90 minutes with plenty of goals on a sunny July afternoon.

Defender Jan Paul Saeijs gave the visitors an early lead but United responded 4 minutes later through Chris Innes. Then the move of the match ended with Barry Robson teeing up Mark Kerr to fire the hosts 2-1 ahead after 34 minutes. Before half time it was 3-1 as James Grady prodded past goalkeeper Dorus De Vries, who would later go on to play for SPL side Dunfermline.

Shortly after the break a rout looked on the cards when a Billy Dodds penalty made it 4-1 but the Dutch team stabilised and scored a consolation through Roy Stroeve.
