Match Report

United went into the second and final game of the pre-season trip against Bundesliga Second Division new boys SPVGG Unterhaching. Ian McCall made numerous changes from the first match against Wacker Burghausen to ensure that every player on the trip had his chance. Paul Gallacher and Billy Dodds were on from the start and Barry Robson had recovered from a slight knock to make his second appearance in the 35 degree heat

A mere two minutes into the game, United went behind to a strike from Fransisco Copado who intercepted a sack pass by Easton before firing home. Paul Gallacher made a great double save from Zimmerman with eighteen minutes gone before Charlie Miller fired over. Mark Römer added a second for the hosts with just over half an hour played, he hit his shot from around 20 yards to beat Gallacher.

Gallacher continued in the second half where he left off in the first pulling of a string of saves. He was however eventually beaten again when Elton da Costa netted from a suspiciously offside position. United did finally grab a goal when Jim McIntyre pounced to head home a Mark Wilson cross but it was too little too late and the home side rubbed salt into the wound when Christian Okpala broke clear to score a fourth.
