Match Report

United lost the second of their Austrian tour matches to Turkish giants Galatasary. The Tangerines were defeated by 3 goals to 1 although they emerged from the match with many plus points.

Alex Smith’s side were two down within fifteen minutes with goals from Ayhan and Umit putting the side founded four years before Dundee Hibernian deservedly ahead. Under intense pressure for the first quarter of this match, United came into the game with Charlie Miller holding the ball up and helping his side to retain some degree of possession.

The second half continued as the first half had ended, a fairly even encounter. With five minutes remaining Duro netted a third for Galatasaray, however, the scoring wasn’t over with United notching a well deserved consolation goal. The scorer was Jim Paterson who got on the end of a Tassos Venetis pass.
