In six previous contests against Falkirk under Jim Jefferies, United had won the lot, but that record ended as Falkirk deservedly got a share of the spoils. The Brockville side may have been bottom of the table, but their play belied their lowly league position as they attacked us from the outset. Unfortunately for them, they found themselves trailing after only 9 minutes. Freddy van der Hoorn hoisted a ball up the right where Andy McLaren took up the running. Falkirk claimed long and loudly for an offside decision which wasn't forthcoming and when Andy crossed into the middle Jim McInally was on hand to sweep us ahead. Undaunted Falkirk responded with a mini onslaught, hitting the bar and forcing Jim Mclnally into a goal-line clearance.
Eventually, Falkirk did draw level when Smith lobbed the ball forward and Scott Sloan ran through and knocked the ball under the diving body of Alan Main. Jim McInally who had scored his first goal of the season earlier in the match, almost got a second immediately after Falkirk's equaliser, but Parks was at full stretch to keep out Jim's diving header. Paddy Connolly spurned a great chance with 20 minutes left as we enjoyed our best spell of the match, but Falkirk hit back before the end and we couldn't complain about having to leave a point behind at Brockville.
