On a day when few Scottish matches survived the atrocious weather as snow and then rain swept across Scotland, our game with Falkirk was one of the few survivors. Without a win in our last three outings, Manager Jim McLean rang the changes, particularly in defence. Conditions may have been far from ideal, but they didn't prevent both sides serving up an exciting encounter with drama in evidence. Oliver was booked for holding back Paddy Connolly after only three minutes, but a minute later, it was the visitors who struck. McCall was fouled out on the right touchline and he flighted over the kick himself from which Neil Duffy sent a glancing header into the far corner. This was the fifth consecutive match in which we had found ourselves going behind, but we responded in the perfect way and pushed the visitors back. Finally, our pressure told when Scott Crabbe collected the ball before letting fly with a shot from the edge of the box which entered the net in the bottom right-hand comer. A thin layer of wet snow had by now covered the pitch, but the action continued to rage thick and fast and five minutes before a welcome respite from the elements, we forged ahead. A fine move on the right involving Mark Perry and John O'Neil saw the ball eventually transferred to Paddy Connolly and he cut inside to fire in a shot which Parks got a touch to, but couldn't prevent rolling over the line.
The snow had turned to unrelenting rain by the time the second half got under way and the pace remained the same, even if chances weren't as abundant. Falkirk fought furiously to the end and only a last minute goal-line clearance by Billy McKinlay ensured that both points remained at Tannadice.
