A night to remember for United fans as they caught their first glimpse of the superb talents of the Londoners' Argentinian World Cup stars Osvaldo Ardiles and Ricardo Villa — and a comeback of massive proportions by their own United favourites. Two goals down after only twelve minutes to Mark Falco and Villa, the Tannadice men buckled down to stage a tremendous fightback and goals from Dave Narey (2) and Willie Pettigrew earned them a win.
