This was not a great advertisement for the North Eastern League, too amny dull moments, not sufficient concentrated endeavour, and practically no personality except for the Junior who lead Uniteds attack.
He hammered his way through to give Holland the first goal, the second and fourth were his own and he had a pretty big hand in the third.
If pretty football got goals Saints would have got a barrowload. United's Polish keeper was seldom in the spotlight. Sibley, ex-Ranger's Jimmy Simpson, and Clark assisted in that, but not as much as Saints' feckless forwards.
United possessed the punch which brought success. Saints advantage might have taken a sup from the bowl.
Wotherspoon, Holland and Adamson earned full marks. St Bernards were in deep patches, only Matthews and Hall were good all through. The Wilkies were like the proverbial curates egg.
But wouldn't it be fine if Logie could shoot as well as he can dribble.
