Match Report

Dunfermline played good enough stuff in the outfield, but couldn't finish it off. United were a haphazard lot in all departments, save goal, and failed to cash in on their greatest asset, the shooting power of Huddersfield's Juliussen.
Until a few minutes after the interval, it looked as if the homsters ram stam methods would carry them through. But they failed to last the pace and the directed things to the finish.
Minor consolation for United was the sound display of Lomond Reid, young Brechiner, making his debut at right half. Wilde, an inside forward with English experience wasn't so hot, and even Juliussen, the man with a kick like a mule, disappointed in the finer points. Ross was wasted at inside right.
Hart was Dunfermline's big man. He kept a tight hold of Juliussen. Keeper and backs were sound. Smeaton and Birrell struck an attractive combination late on, but they were no better finishes than their mates.
Kinnell's equaliser was helped into the net by United's Jimmy Simpson.
