East Fife should have had the points secure on the run of play, but a brilliant Brownlie in the United goal denied them.
In the first half the Fifer's were definitely on top. It was unexpected when Juliussen on his first vist to the East Fife goal opened the scoring.
His shot rebounded from the post into a vacant goal and then Lynch and co got in a tangle. Slogging at it the Fifer's redeemed themselves when P.Simpson with two great efforts gave them the interval lead.
In the second half Juliussen equalised following a mix-up with Lynch outside his goal. Thereafter it was mostly all Fife, but Brownlie was practically unbeatable. He even saved a penalty, P.Simpson missing a chance to get his hat-trick.
Both sides had to make frequent changes due to injuries, Jimmy Simpson ,United, and W.Simpson, East Fife, being the worst sufferers.
