This friendly was hastily arranged so that Jim Mclnally and Dave Narey could get much needed match practice after recovering from injury. In the very first minute we drove into the penalty box and earned a spot kick when Duncan Ferguson was brought down. Finn Mixu Paatelainen hit the ball low and hard, but Warriors' 'keeper Charlie Kelly pulled off a fine save.
After a slow start Jim McInally and Dave Narey both got back into the swing of things. In fact, Dave Narey almost got on the score sheet when he burst into the home side's box in the 37th minute, but his shot from 10 yards was stopped by Kelly who made a fine onehanded save. Despite having the bulk of possession we were finding the Second Division side hard to break down, and it wasn't until the 66th minute that the only goal of the game arrived.
Allan Preston released Christian Dailly through the middle and the youngsters low shot from 16 yards was parried by Kelly, but Christian followed up to squeeze the ball home from close range.
The young striker almost added a second seven minutes from time, but his shot hit the post. The main objective the exercise however was to aid Jim McInally and Dave Narey their come-back and to this end the match was also a success.
