Match Report

The main focus of attention was on Armand Benneker in this friendly and he again did his cause no harm. United took a while to get into the qame, but after David Hannah blocked a shot on the line, United threatened more and more. Gary McSwegan went close when his shot was blocked and Armand Benneker's follow up header was tipped up and over the bar by Kevin Poole. Only a superb reaction save by Ally Maxwell foiled Isset as Leicester showed they still could be dangerous. The crowd were seeing more of the Dutch trialist's attacking prowess as he forced a fine one handed save by Poole.

The Leicester 'keeper was finally beaten when Jamie McQuilken first timed a Robbie Winters cross into the far corner from the edge of the box - his first goal in United colours. More heroics from Poole restricted United's lead to one as he blocked a shot from Owen Coyle and dived full length to hold a Grant Johnson header. It took a low 25 yarder from Ray McKinnon to finally beat Poole again with 29 minutes left. Leicester gained some consolation with a goal ten minutes from the end thanks to Muzzy Isset's header from a Justin Harrington cross. However, before the end Poole brought off another great save when he kept out Owen Coyle's shot with his legs.
