Match Report

A goal by outside-left Davie Wilson two minutes from time, earned Dundee United a 3-3 draw with Kilmarnock in an international cup soccer match in Dallas. The pre-match preparations were hampered by heavy rain and a tornado warning in the area. This had a big impact on the attendance as many elected to stay away from the ground on such a foul day.

Kilmarnock led 1-0 at half time through a goal from Centre Gerry Queen. Kilmarnock represent St Louis and Dundee United, Dallas in the tournament, which is sponsored by the North American Soccer League. A paltry crowd of just under 200 people had braved a day of rain to witness this match.

United made a better start to the second half and within 5 minutes of the interval, they equalised through Kenny Cameron. This jolted Kilmarnock back into action and the quickly regained their lead through Gerry Queen. Four minutes later, Kilmarnock looked to have put the tie beyond doubt when Tommy McLean struck a third. Desperate play by United in the last minutes turned a 3-1 deficit into a draw. Alan Gordon reduced the deficit when he did very well to head home a pass from Wilson in the 77th minute. Then with United pushing forward and commiting players into the Killie box, they got a precious equaliser. Davie Wilson was the scorer and he celebrated overhauling a two goal disadvantage.
