Match Report

The preparation for the new season continued when a largely Reserve Eleven shared the honours in an even and entertaining contest. Stirling took the lead after only four minutes through Davie Thomson. Stirling, without a great deal of play, squandered a golden opportunity in the 2oth minute when Billy Thomson blocked a Willie Irvine penalty. United did equalise after 31 minutes when with the Albion defence in disarray Kevin Gallacher diverted a Reilly shot past Andy Graham.

Just four minutes into the second period, Thomson, the Albion winger, shot home at the near post. It was now Stirling's turn to dominate, but United struck back unexpectedly. Ralph Milne pounced on a Gallacher pass, rounded the 'keeper and scored from a narrow angle. Two players McTeague (Stirling) and John Clark (United) were booked
