Match Report

A strong line up travelled to Glebe Park as the intensity of pre-season gained momentum.

It was no surprise that the Tangerines found themselves in front as early as the 10th minute. David Hannah played a neat one-two with Alex Mathie before slotting home from 10 yards. After 18 minutes it was 2-0 when Stephen Steven Thompson bulleted in a headed goal following a Jim Paterson corner before Steven Thompson doubled his tally in 29 minutes, lifting the ball over the Brechin keeper. The home side pulled a goal back close to half time as Campbell completed a well worked move past Alan Combe.

Normal service was resumed after the break when Alex Mathie headed in after 52 minutes then just 60 seconds later a Jamie Buchan volley made it 5-1 to United. A delightful Alex Mathie lob after 62 minutes made it 6-1 before Steven Thompson completed his hat-trick in 82 minutes, finishing confidently from 6 yards. The partnership of Mathie and Thompson worked well as an energetic team display saw United run out emphatic winners.
