Although the scoreline may not have reflected it, this was another encouraging performance. Before Forfar took a shock lead immediately before the break, United had been well on top with Andy McLaren hitting the woodwork after only 8 minutes play.
Gordon Arthur then kept out a great Robbie Winters strike with his legs in the 24th minute, so it was very much against the run of play when Forfar took the lead. David Bingham played the ball to Sandy Ross who squeezed the ball home at the second attempt after finding himself in splendid isolation at the near post.
Five minutes after the re-start United equalised. Steven Pressley's weighted through pass fell into the path of Robbie Winters and he cleverly steered his chip straight into the back of the net. Craig Brewster fired one just over when he was right through after 64 minutes. but found the net against his former club to notch the winner with seventeen minutes left. He began the move with a pass to Paddy Connolly, but John Donegan, who had only been on three minutes couldn't hold Paddy's drive and Craig Brewster ran in to force the ball home form three yards. Before the end United could easily have added to their score, with Craig Brewster and Paddy Connolly both going close.
