An afternoon that Tannadice fans savoured for seasons after, when things finally clicked to perfection in a systematic trouncing of a Clyde side which had held something of a hoodoo over Tayside clubs in seasons gone by. The demolition job started early enough with United ahead by 2-0 before many of the home fans had entered the ground. Finn Døssing got his name on the scoresheet in 4 minutes and Dennis Gillespie added another from a rebound two minutes later. Before half-time the on-song home attack had done it again when Mogens Mogens Berg slipped in a third in the 20th minute. The first-half scoring heroes repeated the act in the second period with Finn Døssing in 62 minutes. Mogens Berg in 72 minutes and Dennis Gillespie in 74 minutes completing the rout of a Clyde side which had no answer to Umted's finishing power.
