Match Report
There was an early breakthrough for United in this Forfarshire cup tie as Stephen McConalogue headed Jim Paterson's cross past Cairns after 6 minutes. Scorer then turned provider as McConalogue set up David Winters for a stylish finish on 25 minutes. Veteran striker Roddy Grant pulled one back for the hosts 2 minutes later as he reacted first to a loose ball following a corner.
Although Brechin impressed after the break the game was made safe for United in 73 minutes as French trialist Didier Santini headed home a Ronnie O'Brien cross. In the end it was too much for Brechin to recover from and the Terrors progressed through to the next round.
