Match Report

Love Street is always a stiff test for any side and that proved to be exactly the case for us as we endeavoured to stretch our unbeaten run. Facing a stiff wind in the first half, whilst we had the bulk of the play Saints contrived the more clear cut chances, most notably a Gallacher header and a Spiers drive. At the other end Tommy Coyne and Kevin Gallacher had chances and a flick on by Tomy Coyne appeared to be handled by Godfrey but penalty claims were in vain.

Around the hour mark we did take the lead. Paul Hegarty, up in attack returned athrow-in from Eamonn Bannon. Eamonn cut the ball back to Davie Dodds who mistimed his shot which bounced high into the box and Paul dived to head the ball into Money's bottom left hand corner. That lead lasted only seven minutes. Eamonn Bannon's clearing header landed at the feet of Frank McGarvey who quickly transferred the ball into Jim Rooney and his shot took a deflection. Young Kevin Gallacher almost twice regained the lead. First he collected the ball on the left before firing in a tremendous long ranger which Money just tipped over. Then, following the corner, Kevin scooped in another effort which Campbell Money just managed to keep out.
