Glad hand to Dundee United! Their second half start thrilled over 20,000 at Easter Road. It whacked Airdrie - Stan Matthwws and all. Two goals in the first five minutes after the interval - a tonic header by Alex Glen, a tearing shot by Tommy Adamson and a Dunsmore penalty winner following a Bruce foul of Arthur Milne sealed a superb win. A late effort by Flavelle gave Airdrie little consolation. Whole-hearted teamwork enabled United to withstand earlier thrusts. Later, when the brilliant elusiveness of Stanley Matthews became less awe-inspiring, the same whole-heartedness saw them romp to victory.
