Biography

Peter was educated at Portsoy Primary School and Fordyce Academy, before going to Aberdeen to train as a school teacher. He served in the Badenoch area for many years as a teacher in Kingussie. He made his debut for Buckie Thistle in March 1927 where he spent two years before moving his studies saw him play for Aberdeen University in the Aberdeen & District League in 1928-29. He returned to Highland League football with Keith and then Elgin City. He returned to Buckie Thistle for a season 1931-32 before a move to Keith in 1933. He joined Partick Thistle in December 1933, and spent two and a half years with the Firhill club, before being freed. It was at this time he signed for United, aged 27.

Peter's debut in black and white wasn’t until the start of the following season, and just seven months later he parted company with the club on November 7, 1936 by mutual consent. He joined Raith Rovers briefly before returning to his roots to join Buckie for a third time. The second World War ended his football career, later becoming a very keen bowler, well known on the North-East bowling scene as a stalwart member at Portsoy and Turriff.
