Biography

Born in Forfar, Geordie began his career at Forfar Athletic, before later going on to play for Dundee, Rangers and Darlington.

He arrived at Tannadice as something of a signing coup by Jimmy Brownlie. Geordie's move from Rangers to Darlington cost the English club the princely sum of £2,250. It was only 14 games into his time at Darlington, however, when he decided to join the New York Nationals in the United States. Upon his return, he signed for United, much to the consternation of the Darlington board, who believed him to still be their player. As it turned out, he had not been registered by Darlington, and that administrative oversight allowed him to come to Tannadice as a free agent.

He very quickly became an important member of the side and helped United win promotion in 1929. Throughout the First Division campaign that followed he turned out in most forward positions. After the Club was relegated at the end of the 1929-30 season, Geordie moved south to become player/coach at Rhyl.
