Biography

Edison played for a number of clubs in his native Uruguay, including Sud America FC in his hometown of Montevideo, and gained a handful of full international caps for his country.

In May 1992, the 26 year old defender followed fellow South Americans Victor Ferreyra, Jose Luis Pochettino and Walter Rojas to Tannadice, and impressed enough as a trialist to travel with the team to Canada for the Guiness Challenge Cup invitational tournament, playing in all three matches at the end of the 1991-92 season. He was set to join United at the start of the 1992-93 season for a proposed fee of around £200,000 but on his return to the UK he was refused entry due to passport irregularities, and the transfer was cancelled.

He later played in Argentina and eventually moved into coaching, managing Uruguayan sides Rentistas and Penarol.
