Hailing from Insch in Aberdeenshire, Robert signed for United at the age of 16 after being spotted while playing with junior side Lewis United. He featured in the U16/17 squad who defeated Manchester United in the final of the Oakham Tournament in August 2017, and his form saw him quickly become involved in the United development squad.

In July 2018, he was named as a substitute in the first team for the season opener against Arbroath, but he is yet to make a senior appearance for the club.
