Biography

Attacking midfielder Scott was signed in 2013 from Linlithgow Rose Boys Club and progressed steadily throughout his time with the Academy. Top goal scorer for the U17s, he also attended the SFA Performance Programme at Graeme High School in Falkirk. After injuries and growth related impairments halted his development at times, he showed great character and resilience to bounce back from these setbacks and earn himself a full-time contract in July 2018.

Playing regularly in the Under-18 team, in February 2019 the 17 year-old went on loan to Clyde for the remainder of the season, impressing greatly during his time there. The young winger scored his first professional goal with a cracker against Peterhead, and was given a starting place in the second leg of the Play-Off final against Annan Athletic, putting in a Man of the Match display to help the Bully Wee win promotion to League One.

After being involved in United's 2019-20 pre-season friendlies against East Fife, Brechin City and Dumbarton, Scott made his first team debut in a League Cup tie against Hearts at Tynecastle, coming off the bench to impress towards the end of the game.

Timeline

  • Date of Birth

Scott was born on this date in Linlithgow.

  • Signed For Dundee United

Attacking midfielder Scott was signed in 2013 from Linlithgow Rose Boys Club and progressed steadily throughout his time with the Academy. Top goal scorer for the U17s, he also attended the SFA Performance Programme at Graeme High School in Falkirk. After injuries and growth related impairments halted his development at times, he showed great character and resilience to bounce back from these setbacks and earn himself a full-time contract in July 2018.

  • Dundee United met Hearts for the first time in three and a half years in this Betfred League Cup encounter. Last time the two sides met was a thrilling Christmas period encounter back in 2015 that saw the Edinburgh side come out 3-2 on top. Manager Robbie Neilson gave starting positions to three of his new signings. Shankland, Adrian and Liam Smith were all starting, with Adam King and newly re-signed goalkeeper Deniz Mehmet on the bench.

  • It was the return of league football as Tannadice hosted the opening Championship game of the season against Inverness. It was as important an opening match as the expectant crowd could have wished for, with Inverness considered to be amongst the title contenders along with their hosts. Robbie Nielson handed home league debuts to Lawrence Shankland, Liam Smith and Louis Appere whilst the visitors fielded ex-tangerines Coll Donaldson and James Keatings in their starting eleven. Despite some changes in personnel the two teams knew each other well, having faced off in the play off semi final at the end of last season. A similar outcome from today’s match would certainly be welcomed as the Club looks to achieve promotion from the Championship at the fourth attempt.
