French born Rachid played his youth football with Beauvais and Sedan before signing his first professional deal in England with Doncaster Rovers. While at Doncaster he was capped at U23 level for Algeria. His first taste of first team football came with RE Bertrix after making a January switch to the Belgian side. A spell back in France followed with Compiègne before moving to Algeria to join Ligue 1 contenders CS Constantine. After just one season he moved to rivals MC Algier where he remained for three seasons.
In August 2018, Rachid joined United from Algier on a two-year contract, and made his debut two weeks later, in a home draw with Morton at Tannadice. A regular in the heart of United's defence under Csaba Laszlo and also at the start of Robbie Neilson's reign at Tannadice, the defender dropped down the pecking order after the arrival of several new players in the January transfer window. However, Rachid forced his way back into the side, covering for the injured Calum Butcher in a defensive midfield role as United just fell short in their bid for promotion to the Premiership, losing out in the Play-Off final.
At the start of the 2019-20 campaign Csaba Laszlo, now manager of Romanian outfit OSK Sepsi, showed an interest in his former player, and when the Group Stages of the League Cup were complete Rachid was transferred for an undisclosed fee.
