Biography
Having played youth football with Papakura City and Waitakere City in his native New Zealand, Alex made his senior debut with Birkenhead United in New Zealand's NRFL Premier at 15 years of age. He played college soccer with the Northern Kentucky Norse, and also appeared at club level for the US-based Cincinnati Dutch Lions in 2019 whilst studying.
After college, he spent the 2020–21 season with Waitakere United in the New Zealand Football Championship before rejoining Birkenhead United, netting a prolific 19 goals in 19 games during the 2021 season, winning the Northern League Golden Boot.
His form earned him a move overseas, and in January 2022, he signed for St Mirren on 18-month deal. While with the Paisley club, Alex earned his first international cap for New Zealand.
A year into his deal, having netted 9 times for the Buddies in the Premiership, he agreed to join United on a loan until the end of the 2023-24 season.
