David, a graduate of Barcelona’s La Masia academy, began his career with Barca B before spells in Serbia, Japan, Hungary and Romania. A North Macedonian international since 2013, he joined United in 2024 on a one-year deal. After a bright start and a spell as vice-captain, his opportunities became limited, and he left the club at the end of the 2024–25 season.

Biography

A product of Spanish giants Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, David Babunski began his professional career with Barca B before moving to Red Star Belgrade in 2016. A North Macedonian international, he has represented his country at every level, making his senior debut in 2013.

After a year in Serbia, he joined Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos and later played for Omiya Ardija, before continuing his career in Romania with Botosani and Viitorul Constanta. Spells in Hungary followed with Debreceni and Mezokovesd.

Following his release from Mezokovesd, David joined Dundee United on a one-year deal ahead of the 2024–25 season, with a club option for a second year.

He made a promising start, scoring in the early stages of the campaign and taking on the vice-captaincy, often deputising for the injured Ross Docherty. However, as new arrivals strengthened the midfield, his first-team opportunities diminished and he fell almost completely out of the side.

Unsurprisingly, his contract was not renewed at the end of the season, and he departed the club in summer 2025.
