Biography

Joe joined United on a free transfer from Nottingham Forest. He played regularly until late September 1971 when a back injury sidelined him for several weeks. When he returned, Joe played mainly in the reserves for the rest of the season and at the end of 1971-72, he was released and joined Forfar Athletic.

He later emigrated to Australia, and won over 40 caps for the Australian international side, and played against Scotland the World Cup Play-Off matches in 1985.
