Biography

Fred was one of five young players signed from St Mary’s Youth Club in the summer of 1955. Whilst all the others had some success in the first team, Fred made just one appearance. He graduated as a doctor from St Andrews University in 1961, and following a brief spell in general practice near Chesterfield, he settled in Stretford, England. Whilst there, he worked in a variety of other roles including medical officer for British Steel, Kelloggs and Lancashire County Cricket Club.
