Biography

One of three footballing brothers, Alex featured regularly for Dundee Hibs during season 1914-15 before going on to volunteer for military service. He remained a registered player all through WW1, but never played for the Club again and was released in April 1919.

He then joined Fulham where he became a prominent member of the defence, only missing 8 games between 1919 and 1926. He went on to captain the side for the last three years of his time with them, and remarkably attracted a "call-up" from England selectors - only for him to inform them that as a Scot, he could not oblige their selection!

He later became a local councillor in the Fulham area where he remained until his death.
